Many publishers and media companies have shifted their Websites to Drupal. This DrupalCampNYC8 session explores why this is the case by examining current and future trends. We will present several case studies and host an open discussion about workflow tools, popular contributed modules, mobile publishing, and techniques for monetizing content, all of which are helping publishers rethink their businesses. From workflow management, multiplatform publishing, and subscription payments, to video integration, social media integration, and user generated content, this session will focus on how publishers and media companies are using Drupal to invite wider audience participation and ultimately improving their bottom line.

About the Presenter
James Tunick is founder of the New York City-based Drupal development team, Web5design (http://www.Web5design.com) and he is founder of the Outernet technology company, StudioIMC (http://www.StudioIMC.com). Tunick is interested in the overlap of creativity and technology and his work focuses on technologies for the enterprise that engage large-audience participation while enhancing collaboration online and in public spaces. Tunick has worked with clients such as the US Army, Clear Channel, Sprint, Verizon, Nokia, NRDC, Greenday, Toyota, Fast Company, John Wiley & Sons, & Columbia University. His technologies have been used in Times Square, Major League Baseball stadiums, museums, movie theater screens, & cities across the U.S.. He has two patents pending & his work has been featured in Rolling Stone Magazine, Wired, the New York Times, the Discovery Channel, & in two books. Tunick received his BA from Yale University & received his Master’s in new media from the Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) at Tisch NYU.
